Heather, Cindy, Wigs & Julie

Kevin had his 30 year class reunion/golf outing today, so no game for him. Dodgers coming into this game having won 13 straight games on the road, and they are one of the hottest teams in baseball. Boo.

Cindy & I started with lunch at Uncommon Ground. It was a beautiful day and we wanted to sit outside. Good food; typical slow service. We made it into the game about 2:45 for a 3:05 start.

The Shark was on the mound, and he didn’t do terrible, but once again, the Cubs didn’t do anything offensively to help him. Well, they had 8 hits, and left 7 men on base. On the season, they are hitting just .226 with runners in scoring position – 2nd lowest in the Majors. Samardzjia lasted 6 innings (on a HOT day – yea!!) throwing 112 pitches (69 for strikes), walking 5 and striking out 9. Capuano started for the Dodgers and went 6.1 innings giving up 6 hits, 1 walk and striking out 5.

Puig (!) had 2 more hits to keep his average at .376. He also made a great catch and hurt his thumb in the process. Boo hoo. He had a great diving catch on Friday, and then also had a crazy catch that didn’t count. Here’s the video on that one:

Cubs lost 3-0. After the game, we went to Bernie’s for a beer, and then over to Guthrie’s for another where Randy also met us for a drink. Then to dinner at El Tapatio on Ashland. I’d been to this place years ago and it was kind of just a small, dumpy café with very basic table and chairs (one step above card tables…). They have totally upgraded and it is very cute inside.

We ordered drinks to start and they were HUGE:

We started with appetizers of Guac and Ceviche. Yummy. Especially the Ceviche. For dinner, Heather had the combo which consisted of a taco, tostada and enchilada (all chicken). She said it was good, but also hard to screw up. Cindy had Carne Asada, and Wigs had chicken enchiladas in dark mole sauce. I had Tilapia Al Tamarindo (basically pan-seared tilapia).

All very good and I would come back again.

Recap:

Cubs Lose 3-0

My season record: Visitors 22, Cubs 11

Parking update: I did hear from Trish and they were in the burbs on Saturday, so no parking update. Sunday they sold the spots for $40 each. (I did not go to the game, so no blog entry for that!)
