It’s Opening Day! Yea!!! I Love Opening Day. Monday, April 8, 2013. This also means it’s amateur day and a shit-show, so there are not high expectations for fine dining J Especially after going to Yakzie’s at 10:00 AM for pizza and beer for breakfast. It started as a rainy morning, so got all the rain gear together before heading out to Yakzie's and some Lin Brehmer. Here we are drinking beer at 10:30 AM:
And here is a close up of our t-shirts. Front said Rosemont Cubs with the word Rosemont crossed out. The back said "Keep the Cubs in Chicago... Send Tunney to Rosemont"
For those following the Cubs/City of Chicago/Wrigley Field "negotiations", you can tell how we feel about Tom Tunney the alderman of the 44th ward. And in case you can't tell: he is a shill for the rooftops, who contribute lotsa money to his campaign. I could go on and on with this rant, but it's a happy day, so Boo to Tunney and onto fun!
Into the park at 11:20 AM. The line was forever – the Season Ticket holder/VIP line was longer than the other bleacher lines. And holy cow – windy as heck. While waiting in line, I bought a hat. $20 – not too bad – at the little stand on the corner of Sheffield and Addison. They did open "our" VIP doors first, so we stuck it out and eventually got in.

Opening Day in the bleachers, we always have a good crowd. JK, Kevin, Heather, Wigs, Matt, Casey, Shelly, Joe, Trish, Randy, Fifi (and her friend – now I don’t remember his name), Leigh Ann, Jenn, Colleen, Cindy. Wind was crazy all day, but no rain and pretty warm for April 8th - 60 degrees and partly cloudy.
Post game we went to Bernie's and then eventually to D'Agostino's (an old standby) for yummy salad and pizza. Broccoli & Sausage is my favorite, and despite a few grumblings, other people liked it too! And of course the D'Ags special. Friends at dinner included JK, Kevin, Heather Wigs, Leigh Ann, Jenn, RV, Carrie, JO & Trish.
Recap:
Cubs lose 7-4. Despite a 2 run rally in the 9th, they couldn't pull it off.
Weather was super-windy, but kind of sunny and warm. No rain!
Trish & John sold parking for $30 per spot.
Dinner at D'Agostino's.
