Game 2 – No Restaurant. With all due respect to Azteca D' Oro (which we LOVE, and we brought tacos from there into the park) - we aren't counting that in our Restaurant count.
A freezing night in Chicago, and a lot of the players were wearing the baclavala’s under their hats. (I had to look that up because I originally wrote baclava, which is a "rich, sweet pastry made of layers of phyllo pastry filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with syrup or honey" according to Wikipedia.)
According to MLB.com’s Joey Nowak “Chicago entered the night next-to-last in the Majors with a .186 batting average. They had hit just 6-for-44 (.136) with runners in scoring position”. Awesome.
We ended up leaving in the 5th (? Or was it 6th?) with the Cubs losing 3-1, and headed over to Bernie’s for the Hawks game. On the way out of park, we passed 3 piles of throw up – one in the walkway behind right field bleachers, and then 2 (or 3 or 4??) going down the stairs. Gross. I couldn’t look at it or I’d gag and throw up myself, but reports from Kevin & Wigs indicate there was almost a full unchewed hot dog in the pile. Ewwww. I need to wash my boots.
At Bernie’s, it was definitely warmer and we could watch both games at the same time. Hawks win 1-0 over Minnesota! Cubs tied it up in the bottom of the 7th. And won it in the bottom of the 9th! Yea!!
Recap:
Cubs win 6-3 on Castro walk-off double.
Weather was cold – 39 degrees.
Trish & John sold parking for $20 per spot.
My season record: Cubs 1, Visitors 1
